Domestic Destination Weddings

Destination weddings do not have to be at some foreign port. There are many beautiful locations here in the United States.
Urban
The most urban place in the entire country is probably New York City. There are so many hotels and restaurants to choose from, that any style or theme is possible. Washington, D.C. is also a beautiful urban location, from the parks to the museums to the monuments. To make this particular location unique, look into the local bed-and-breakfasts for an intimate and family feel.
Mountain
Colorado is the most obvious choice for a mountain setting. The ski slopes and mountain resorts provide a perfect backdrop any time of year. Also keep in mind some of the less-crowded mountain destinations such as Alaska, Idaho, Montana, or South Dakota. The summits, the rivers, and the wide-open sky can be an epic setting. Any of these places can provide flawless destination weddings.
Beach
Strolling barefoot on the sand towards a white gazebo lined with tropical flowers with the rolling waves in the background what could be more picturesque? Choose California, Hawaii, Florida, or Texas for this sunset-and-seashell setting. From the upscale resorts to the cottage inns, any of these paradises are ready to help arrange a beautiful wedding day.
Shotgun
No discussion of domestic destination wedding locations would be complete without a mention of Las Vegas. Not every Las Vegas wedding is performed by an Elvis impersonator in a blue tuxedo, although that can certainly be found. There are also beautiful ballrooms and elegant receptions for even the most sophisticated guest. And the activities abound if the wedding party and guests want to linger after the ceremony.
Leave the passport at home. Enjoy these and many other locations for destination weddings right near home and save the exotic for another vacation.
